Milk Bar & Bistro
International bistro with killer brunch
If you’re fed up with the spit and sawdust tapas places that (over)populate this particular corner of Barcelona, you’ll appreciate the more relaxing international approach of this popular bar and bistro. Ever since it opened in 2005, Milk has been a haven of creature comforts for many an expat, tourist and more adventurous local, thanks to a menu that includes the likes of Vietnamese shaking beef (bo luc lac), roasted camembert cheese with rosemary, “Drunken Prawns” (cooked in garlic and white wine), and ramen noodle burgers.
Meanwhile, Milk’s “recovery brunch” menu has achieved something of a cult status in Barcelona and offers a host of delicious andcalorie-rich alternatives to Alka Seltzer, such as American-style toasted bagels, the triple-whammy breakfast burger and of course a classic full fry up. It’s served every day from 9am to 4:30pm if you fancy seeing what the fuss is about.
With its swish lounge-bar decor, exquisitely-mixed drinks and funky downtempo soundtrack many diners tend to stay later when the venue morphs into a livelycocktail bar.
The same owners also recently opened another chic bar-restaurant in the form ofFirebugArc de Triomf和帕洛阿尔托研究中心附近de la Ciutadella.

Day five in Barcelona and best food so far. Ticked everyone's box, including the boy whose 16th birthday it was today. Far surpassed the offerings at the well-known American "rock" establishment and half the price. Will definitely recommend it to friends.5 years ago

Thank You AGAIN, for the wonderful food memories. Milk bar & bistro is a true gem in this wonderful city. I took six guests there last month and once again I was not disappointed. We were greeted on arrival by the owners Rebecca & Paul, both hail from Ireland but have spent many years in San Francisco which explains the diversity of their food.Their night time menu has something to suit all tastes. We had crispy vegeterian spring rolls with their own dipping sauce, smoked salmon potato cakes and amazing salads. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wings ten for €8.95 and Oh My GOd! I have never tasted anything like these. Amazing is all I can say. I tried to get the ingredients out of the owners for their sauce, but alas No. It's top secret. If all you have when you come to Barcelona is chicken wings than Milk is the ONLY place to go. My wife had the pasta dish, and our friends had different burgers. These are not just any old burgers, each one comes with their own sauce and a variety of toppings. The presentation of the food was as usual excellent. Everything is sourced locally andyou can tell. It really is the 'Real Deal'. We washed all this fabulous food down with some beautiful wines, which were very reasonablally priced. and of course made room for deserts, again all home made and a great variety to choose from. The staff at Milk are just lovely, very attentive and knowledgeable about the food they serve. You could see that they enjoyed their work and take great pride in serving us the delicious dishes. Hats off to the owners who obviously go to great lenghts to ensure that the standard of their food is always perfect. We spoke briefly to them and you can see that they are very passionate about their food and it shows. We also love the ambience and decor of Milk. It's really comfortable, cosy and classy at the same time. They have very interesting pictures on the walls, comfy cushions and couches to relax on. The music plays at just the right level in the background so you can appreciate it and chat with your friends. The chandelier and mirrors add a certain touch of class to this already chic place. The loos are spotless again with real funky pictures on the walls. Our friends loved the place so much that we had to come back for their Recovery Brunch - once again, we were not disappointed. Milk must be the only place in Barcelona that does a proper breakfast with 'Barrys Tea' along with other brands and great coffee. You can have everything from a healthy smoothie, to eggs benedict, Yummy... pan cakes, breakfast burgers, and homemade potatoes with a little kick that are to die for. There is definitely a hint of San Fran about the brunch and it's just perfect. Great food, great prices, and great service. What more could one ask for.Well done to Rebecca & Paul and their staff. You are true masters in your trade. Thank you for taking such good care of us. Thank you for the wonderful food memories, which will keep us going till we come back again.5 years ago
